Eye of the beholder

I've never thought of myself as anything above average looking, but lately I've been getting many compliments. Even my boyfriend of almost 10 months, who should be pretty accustomed to what I look like, can't stop parroting the phrase "your muscles are so big!" Apparently my voice teacher's encouragement "with your looks and... your looks, you could go far!" is coming true. Although I'd rather be praised for something more meaningful, like a career, etc.

On the job note, though, I have great news. Today I was told that I'd be gettting a $1 an hour raise. I feel like I'm now getting paid closer to what I'm worth, which in turn, makes me want to work harder at my job and take a little more pride in it. Not to mention the extra money will be nice.

Furthermore, I've been interested in advertising for a while now and have thought that is a possible career path for me. When I told Mills that, he said I could try my hand at writing some of the store's radio spots! I might even get bonuses for writing them! I've already written one that will be put into production. I worked on it with Callie, who is fun, creative, and smart. I had such a blast! Even if this isn't something I want to do for a career, it is at least making my job more fun/interesting.

So life is pretty good. Last week also saw an upswing in my social life. I had an invite to do something every night last week. It was fun, but pretty crazy. Work hard, work out hard, party hard: that's life for me these days!

Shoulda been a cowboy

The best news since my last post is the return of my Eddy!! He has come back darker, with more facial hair, and longer hair! I am LOVING the longer locks, and gladly, I'm getting support from his friends, cuz he's never been a fan of his curly hair. Anyway, it's been wonderful to have him back! Somehow I feel closer upon his return. Not that I liked having him away, or would WANT to be away from him regularly, but somehow I feel like we're stronger for it.

We went to see Brokeback Mountain in cowboy garb. It was a downer of a movie, but it certainly made ya think. I think the best part was showing up in costume and running into an ex who exclaimed sarcastically: "What movie are YOU guys gonna see?"

For some hot cowboy love, no need to see the movie, just click here.

Uh huh! FRINGE!!

Price is right

This morning I blissfully slept in until the hour of 10 am. When you get up that late one can turn on the tv and find gay boys wearing I "heart" bob shirts, ex porn stars (or soon to be porn stars) pointing gleefully at housewares, and a bunch of people screaming numbers. Yes, I speak of the phenomenon known as The Price Is Right.

Today marks 9 glorious months of dating the most beautiful boy in the world: my Eddy G. Since he is in Puerto Rico, I emailed him the following celebratory pic. I love my boy!!

Absence

Absence is to love what wind is to fire; it extinguishes the small, it inflames the great.

Roger de Bussy-Rabutin, 1618-1693

Summary: Acutally had a BLAST at Soco last Thursday. I love my friends Michael and TJ, and I got to see some people I'd not seen in a while, plus meet some new people. Enjoyed some time with the fam over the weekend. I see too little of them. Enjoyed the new Pride and Predjudice movie. I recommend it. Talked to my Eddy G today!! I miss him so, but that will make it just that much better when I do see him this coming Sunday.

Church of MB20

It's been a while!

Christmas with the family went by in a blink. It was really good to see everyone though. I SWEAR this is the LAST retail Christmas I work, unless I own my own business or something. It's just not worth it.

Mom got a puppy for Christmas, and she's fierce! Even though she weighs less than a pound, she took of after the older bigger dogs. No fear in that little one!

This week after Christmas has found me very unmotivated to be at work. Luckily I did get a little time off, including getting off early on New Year's Eve. Ed and I hit the old standby Shattered for some Shatterday night fun. It was way fun! I've been able to spend a lot of time with him over the last three and a half days or so. It's a good thing, cuz I missed him while he was in Rolla, and tomorrow he leaves for TWO weeks in Puerto Rico. Despite being happy he gets to experience this trip, I'm a tad jealous that he's going to a warm climate in January without me. (Although today was quite warm here). More than that, I miss him already. I see many brownies and chick flics in my immediate future. =) Actually, though there undoubtedly will be some of that, I plan on being very productive while he's gone: clean the spare room, hit the job search hardcore, and get back into the exercise habit. I also need to get going on some writing projects. I want to try to be published in the Choral Journal as one of their Writing Fellows.

To be honest though, I'm sure I'll need to do some hardcore MB20 singing in my boxers. Rob Thomas is God. Amen.
